Many of our projects are interactive and it is often difficult to convey how the interactivity will work through images and drawings. Rather than use animations, we typically build interactive models that can show both the space, materials, and the interactivity. The model above has an LED grid underneath the proposed installation that is controlled by the processing sketch below.
The LED grid is just built out of segments of an addressable LED strip that was cut up, glued to a piece of foam core, and re wired. The grid is a much lower resolution than the light tubes in the proposal and model, but it works well enough to show the interactivity. The light tubes in the model are made of clear acrylic tubes that has been sanded so the light will bounce around in the tube when an LED shines near it below. The processing sketch is re-interpolated to the grid using pixel mapping
