Crystalized Singapore, 2023

We were commissioned by Artling and Mondrian to create an artwork for the first Mondrian in Singapore. The crystalline artwork is the center piece of the cocktail bar, Christina’s, on the ground floor of the new hotel. Accessible to those staying at the hotel and pedestrians, the coffee and cockatiel bar acts as a link between the urban life of the city and the hotel. The client was looking for an artwork that acted as a beacon to capture the pedestrians from the surrounding street activity. The crystalline structure is lit from within and clad with iridescent acrylic. During the day it acts as a kaleidoscopic natural form within the coffee bar, while at night it is a faceted lantern within the space that can be seen by passersby.
