Building Connections New York, NY 2018
Building Connections is the Center for Architecture Education Department’s annual exhibition of K-12 student design work from our Learning By Design:NY in-school residencies and studio workshops held at the Center for Architecture. We worked with the Center for Architecture to design and create this year’s exhibition. We conceived of the exhibition as a city turned on its side. A set of vertical volumes that extend into the interior space of the Center for Architecture to provide surfaces to
provide surfaces to place models and drawings created by the Learning By Design workshops. The base of these rotated vertical volumes provides a Wunderkammer like display in the street front window of the exhibition space. Each window “within the window” is sized for the various models created by the K-12 students. At night, integrated lighting highlights the models on display.
